Looking forward to this year

This Year Is Going To Be Great

Looking Back

2018, was an eventful year. It’s the year I officially launched Handheld Handmade. After a lot of hand wringing and hemming and hawing, I actually did it, and launched this small business. Life is too short and too terrible to not go after what you want. So here I am, hoping to support small businesses and artists with this little business that could.

This Year

I am so excited about this coming year. It’s filled with a lot of travel and I sat down to look at what I need to do to make Handheld Handmade viable. It involves a lot of things that I didn’t think I needed to do. Things like plans and goals and marketing.

I sat down at the end of last year and really looked at what I wanted to accomplish and broke it down quarter by quarter. There’s still some goals that I should flesh out, but for the most part I feel like I’m in a good place to accomplish some big lifts this year.

Sneak Peek

Do you want to know what I have in store for Handheld in the coming months?

For the first quarter, I’m focusing on referrals and how to reward my current customers as well as entice new customers to join. (Want to join right now so you don’t miss out?) And to do that, I’m looking to partner with some amazing artists to help entice you to join. But you should do it right now anyways, because it’s free! And fun! And easy!

Also during Q1, I’ll be speaking at Craftcation produced by Dear Handmade Life, in Ventura, CA. (Get your tickets here!) And I’m super excited about it! I’ll be talking about how to get press for you business, book publishing, and hosting a couple of “think tank” type talks. I also have the opportunity to add something to the attendee’s gift bags and I’ve gone round and round trying to figure out a good piece of swag.

Swag needs to be something attendees actually want or find fun and something that will give me value, too. It’s tricky! I think I’ve finally settled on something, and I’ll tell you more when the details are finalized. But until then, check out this unusual swag! How fun!

I’ll also be attending this year’s tenth anniversary ALT Oasis. I have never been to an ALT before, and figured why not go big for this year’s summit? I have a feeling I will meet a lot of amazing people and learn a lot. I am excited for sure!

Come Q2, I hope to have a fun surprise for those on the Handheld Handmade text list. It has to do with emoji! It’s an idea I’ve had for a while and something I had hoped to implement last year, but never did. With the new year, I have more focus and drive to accomplish things that need to be accomplished!

Now What

Writing it all out, it doesn’t seem like a lot but my goodness, it is! I am really excited about this coming year. I hope you come along for the ride!
